Abstract
Background: Adult height is influenced by both genetic and environmental factors. Among the environmental factors are health and socioeconomic conditions in early life. With a growing interest in quality of life among the elderly, an investigation of the relationship between health-related quality of life (HRQoL) and height was required.

Methods: This study utilized data from the Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey from 2010?2011. The Euro Quality of Life five dimension (EQ-5D) index scores were categorized as either satisfactory or unsatisfactory, based on the median value. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were used to evaluate the effect of height on HRQoL controlling for socioeconomic variables and pathologic conditions.

Results: The analysis included 1,607 female participants aged ¡Ã65 years with valid body height and EQ-5D index scores. Lower height was associated with lower HRQoL using univariate logistic regression. However, with adjustments for covariates using multivariate logistic regression, the effect of height on HRQoL proved to be insignificant.

Conclusion: There is no significant association between adult height and HRQoL.
